What Can a Class IV Laser Do For You?

Let’s face it, our society is one of immediate gratification. If we can get it faster, we are all for it. Despite this being prevalent in our society with consumerism, the human body sadly does not have a “buy now” button. There are plenty of ways we can mask our pain. Medications, ice packs, heating pads, electrical stimulation units, salonpas patches, and Biofreeze rub just to name a few. Unfortunately, there can be harmful side effects associated with those choices. When it comes to musculoskeletal health there are therapies that have been proven highly effective with little to no associated risks. One of those is high-powered lasers.

High-powered lasers were popularized in medicine back in the early 1960s with their early use in ophthalmology. Continued development has brought this effective science into cancer treatment, dentistry, surgery, and of course musculoskeletal care. The premise behind how the laser works is that it stimulates cells to supercharge healing through the production of ATP. ATP is the molecule that helps to drive many crucial cellular processes in the human body. In the case of musculoskeletal care infrared light driven deep into the area of pain, helps to reduce inflammation, repairs damaged cells, and modulates pain. There are a plethora of high-quality research studies that prove the effectiveness of laser therapy for treating certain conditions.

High-powered laser therapy helps with sprains, strains, stress fractures, tendonitis, and post-surgery. All professional sports teams utilize laser treatment along with a variety of other modalities to help their athletes recover faster and help them to continue to perform at a high level. If you are wondering about specific “medical diagnoses” that are helped by laser therapy you can refer to the following list.
